The T. David Fitz-Gibbon Architecture Firm Award was presented to LeMay Erickson Willcox Architects in 2005. The award is the highest honor given by the Virginia Society of the American Institute of Architects to a Virginia-based architecture firm, recognizing a firm that has consistently produced distinguished architecture for at least ten years.
Firms are evaluated based upon the following criteria:
- Design achievement
- Breadth and scope of built work
- Relationship of built work to purpose, environment, user and physical context
- “Staying power”
- Consistency of philosophy, approach, and quality
- Professional leadership
In presenting the award, John Braymer, executive vice president and CEO of the Virginia AIA, stated that the award recognizes the firm’s “two decades of distinguished architecture and professional leadership. LeMay Erickson Architects’ awards and repeat clients attest to the firm’s timeless designs and commitment to client satisfaction.”
